The Wooden Architecture Road
The Wooden Architecture Road is a unique route that leads to 230 of the most significant landmarks of the area. Along the 1,500-kilometre-long route, you’ll encounter attractions ranging from Christian and Orthodox churches to granaries, chapels and traditional old Polish manor houses, which are characteristic of the Lesser Poland region. Apart from wooden complexes, the route also offers stone and brick fortresses, Gothic abbeys and Romanesque churches which provide a glimpse of the region's history, as well as its cultural and artistic heritage. Particularly worth seeing are the UNESCO-protected churches of Lipnica Murowana and Debno Podhalanskie. For your convenience, all the sights on the wooden architecture road are marked and guided to by over 600 signposts. After a long walk full of attractions, you can stop by at the nearby inns and taverns to enjoy a traditional Polish feast.
Muszyna Spa
The main treatment resort in the region, Muszyna is a city-turned-spa which is famous for its mineral springs and a superb location right above the Poprad River. Surrounded by Popradzki Scenic Park, the area is known for its mild climate and excellent treatment facilities. Particularly popular here are the therapies that ease rheumatic disorders and the diseases of the digestive and respiratory systems. Apart from its thriving spa industry, Musza is also famous for the distribution of Muszynianka, which is one of Poland's best-known brands of mineral water. Other than highly mineralised water, the local spa-hotels offer such attractions as hiking tours, cycling escapades and rafting trips down the Poprad River. The area is also rich in sights, amongst which the most notable are the ruins of a Medieval castle, the 19th-Century Market Square complete with stylish tenement houses, and finally the Regional Museum of Ethnography. Nearby, other places worth seeing include the localities of Leluchów and Dubne, where you can encounter fine examples of Polish churches. If you’re into active holidays, Muszyna offers you four ski-lifts and a wide range of sports fields, tennis courts, biking routes and strolling paths.
Wierchomla Ski Area
Wierchomla is one of the few localities to successfully combine modern facilities with the traditional Lesser Poland ambience. The Wierchomla Ski Area offers not only numerous superb guesthouses and hotels, but also great ski slopes which range from relatively easy to quite advanced. For that reason, every year thousands of tourists flock here to enjoy
the ski routes surrounded by the sublime woods. In spite of its popularity, Wierchomla comes across as a rather small, almost provincial town with an appeal of a luxurious celebrity hide-out resort. Adding to the calm and peaceful ambience of the area is Tysina Creek, which intersects the area with a shimmering stream of fresh mountain water.
