Szklarska Poreba Attractions

Cieplice Spa
Cieplice is a locality famous for its springs, specific climate and a unique location right at the foot of a mountain range. The city has been a renowned spa center since the Middle Ages, when the healing properties of the local springs were discovered and described in one of the chronicles. In 1607, the locality became internationally famous after Kaspar Schwenckfeld promoted the place as a healing resort. In the year 1810, Cieplice was taken over by the Schaffgotsch family, who successfully modernised the center, turning it into one of the best spas in Eastern Europe. In 1891, the city of Cieplice was granted its first railway connection, which certainly added to the growth of its popularity. Today, like centuries ago, the curative properties of the region draw numerous tourists and patients, who visit Cieplice to recuperate or simply to relax in one of Poland's best spas.

Kamienczyk Waterfalls
The most prominent waterfall in the region, the Kamienczyk Waterfalls is the main attraction near Szklarska Poreba. Located approximately 840 metres above sea level, the waterfalls are formed by a three-level cascade which ends at the Gorge of Kamienczyk. Surrounded by steep, rocky formations, the waterfall is nearly 27 metres long and about 4 meters wide. Its biggest attraction is the Golden Cave, which is hidden behind the middle step of the cascade. This hidden cave offers sublime, dark amethyst walls illuminated by golden torchlight.

Snowy Kettles
Snowy Kettles (also referred to as Sniezne Kotly) is a surprisingly well-preserved post-glacial kettle, which offers a unique climate and superb skiing conditions almost all year round. Often, patches of snow remain here from late November until late June, and sometimes even until early September. The Snowy Kettles region comprises the Big Kettle and Small Kettle areas, the former being almost 1,500 metres high, 800 metres long and 600 metres wide. The latter is much less extensive, but its makes up for that with picturesque views and an undisturbed pastoral ambiance. Altogether, Snowy Kettles is a natural preserve covering an area of about 120 hectares, and providing a home to numerous wild animals and rare plants, which are characteristic of the Sudety region. Particularly worth visiting here is Czarcia Ambona, which is a popular observation point offering a sublime panorama of both Kettles.
